BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification has expanded dramatically in the last 5 years — covering toys, electronics, leather, auto parts, household appliances, lithium batteries, steel, footwear, and dozens more. Two routes: BIS ISI Mark (for manufacturers under Quality Control Order mandatory categories), BIS CRS — Compulsory Registration Scheme (for electronics & IT equipment).

Product classification
We classify the product per BIS standards — IS number, scheme type (ISI / CRS / Hallmark / QCO), and applicable testing standard (IEC / Indian Standard).
Sample testing
Sample submitted to BIS-recognised test lab. Test report typically 3-6 weeks. Where international IEC reports exist, BIS accepts them under some categories.
Application filing
Application submitted to BIS via the Manakonline portal with test report, sample details, manufacturer info, and fee.
Factory audit (where required)
For ISI Mark and FMCS: BIS officers visit the manufacturing facility. We accompany and respond to observations.
Licence grant & marking
Licence granted with marking authorisation. We coordinate the BIS mark engraving / labelling on the product or carton per spec.

What's the difference between BIS ISI and BIS CRS?
BIS ISI: voluntary or mandatory mark for manufacturer of products under Quality Control Orders (e.g. stainless steel utensils, pressure cookers). Requires factory audit. BIS CRS: registration of electronic / IT products that an importer or manufacturer sells in India. No factory audit; relies on test report. CRS is faster (4-8 weeks); ISI takes longer due to inspection.
Do I need BIS for toy imports?
Yes — BIS Toys QCO 2020 is mandatory for any toy imported or manufactured in India. The toy must be BIS-marked at the carton level. Customs blocks unmarked toy shipments at the port.
How long does BIS CRS take for electronics?
4-8 weeks typically. Mobile phones: 6-8 weeks. LED lights: 4-6 weeks. Power banks: 4-6 weeks. Faster if your manufacturer already has CRS for related models.
Can I sell my product in India without BIS while application is pending?
No — selling a Quality Control Order product (like a regulated electronic, toy, or jewellery item) without BIS mark is a customs violation. Bonded warehousing during the BIS pendency is the safe alternative — duty stays deferred.
